The Name: Prairie House

When Jeff Nixa first opened his practice in 2003, he worked out of his home.  The house was built in 1903 in the contemporary "Prairie Style" of architectural design.  Jeff's practice in South Bend's Near Northwest Neighborhood grew quickly, doubling each year until he needed a larger office.

Committed to both his revitalizing neighborhood and a walkable/ bikeable lifestyle, Jeff relocated his practice just two blocks down the street to
its current location in South Bend's historic
Colfax
Cultural Center.

"I like that you operate out of a nearby

neighborhood center, and that you're

also a progressive activist--feels like

supporting a good cause."

                     -Elaine, college administrator

The Colfax Center

Built in 1898, the Colfax School building is the oldest remaining Victorian school house in

South Bend.

South Bend Heritage Foundation renovated

the facility in 1983.  The Center now houses low-cost studios and galleries for artists, performance space for dancers and actors, workshop space for a church and mosque, offices for several art-related businesses, social service agencies and Prairie House Massage.

Visitors climb the same ornate oak staircase as generations of school children did, to arrive at the cozy renovated classroom now serving as Jeff's office.

"I love the office.  I love the old architecture,

the peaceful colors, the relaxing music, and

the pictures of his children!"

-Kathy

The Goal: A Balanced Life.

We have all heard the threefold phrase about  balanced health in "body, mind and spirit."  But how many people have balance in any of
these aspects of real daily life?

We're so accustomed to racing about, reacting
to every relationship, crisis and emotion. After years of this, physical tension and pain just seem normal.  In fact, many persons are
unaware of just how 'numb' they have become
in their physical bodies, and even in their minds and hearts.

Prairie House Massage is here to help.  Because when you begin to live a balanced life, healing,  strength and happiness begin to magically unfold.

"Jeff treats you holistically, trying to get a
picture of your life and the particular issues
that may be affecting your wellness.  He then uses any information you choose to share to provide the best possible care."

-Sharon, RN

"The overall experience at Prairie House is

entirely comfortable: sensitive...and somehow spiritual without being proselytizing. I'm a big

fan and enthusiastically recommend him to

my patients and friends.

-Mark, MD

"My goal is to help you get healthy, happy
and strong as soon as possible, for the least expense  possible.  Not to keep you coming back week after week for unnecessary treat-ments, supplements or retail accessories."

"Jeff is a pioneer that brings his unified

education in these areas together with his

inborn gift as a healing guide.  I have

experienced a freedom from emotion

stored as pain in my body from

receiving massage from Jeff."
